  The Indian Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has check flown a subscale technology demonstrator of a soaring wing unmanned
  combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) for the very first time, the agency introduced via the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on 1 July.
  The agency previously stated which the demonstrator should be
  able to operate for an hour within a line-of-sight selection of 200 km or more
  to an altitude of around 6,000 m. The DRDO said the UCAV demonstrator has been flown in the Aeronautical Test Range (ATR) in Chitradurga.
  
  The UCAV can be expected to become equipped with a large internal weaponry bay.
  The DRDO earlier introduced in January 2021 the fact that SWiFT’s indigenously created retractable
  getting gear, which weighs in at one tonne and it is specifically designed
  to fit into the limited internal bay of the UCAV, had been delivered by its
  Combat Vehicles Research and Development
  Establishment (CVRDE). The DRDO asserts how the airframe, flight control, and avionics systems used for the aircraft had
  been developed indigenously. The Ghatak program, which commenced around 2009, calls for a
  autonomous UCAV with provision to start missiles and laser-guided munitions
  extremely. The subscale aircraft - produced by the DRDO’s Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) - serves as a testbed
  for validating the design from the Indian Air Force’s Ghatak UCAV programme,
  and is also known as the Stealth Wing Flying Testbed (SWiFT).
